About Us
Pyxis Chemicals, a member of the Pyxis Group of Companies, is a supplier of Lithium Salts, including Lithium Hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6)
The materials are offered in various concentrations and formulations: Anhydrous, Molybdate Inhibited and Chromate Inhibited, Uninhibited. Our lithium hexafluorophosphate is mainly produced in high quality, targeted at lithium-ion batteries used in the Electric Vehicle Industry. Additional applications for this salt include mobile systems such as laptops, mobile phones, power drills and some grid-storage systems. Recent improvements include specific stabilization of the LiPF6 based electrolytes by other materials such as LIFSI.
Our Expertise
Through many years of Research, Development and Innovation in the renewable energy materials space, founder Dr Lesotlho David Kock, together with like-minded partners and individuals set up Pyxis as the commercialization vehicle for various lithium-based materials and products. In partnership with China based counterparts and associates operating in this space and on the strength of China’s rich experience and support from our professional team, Pyxis is building a large a large scale African lithium materials production facility to service various global markets such as Europe, USA, Asia UAE and Africa, hence creating a robust, direct participation by Africa in the global lithium value chain.
Our Lithium Production Plants
Pyxis is putting its first two lithium salt plants in Zimbabwe and South Africa (KwaZulu-Natal), combined the two plants capacity is 20 000 tons per annum with the first plant envisaged to be operational by January 2026 in Zimbabwe. Both plants will service the fast growing global and African battery industry driven heavily by the growth of Electric Vehicles (EVs).
